Jacksonville State Wrap; UL-Monroe Preview

The crew returns to action after Hurricane Isaac knocked out power at Studio Patrick Williams last week.  Picks are in, and everyone started off ok; PW brings up the rear at 3-3 while Tom Logan fires a perfect 6-0 out of the gate.  Jacksonville State brought home everyone's worst fears about the John L. Smith era.  Tom thinks Paul Haynes is hiding some schemes from Alabama; everyone else just thinks they aren't very good.

Historic War Memorial is on tap for this weekend, with UL-Monroe in town for their annual home game in Razorback colors.  The weather is going to turn a bit fall-ish and JimmyG will be making an appearance in the Rock.  Johnny has technical difficulties, but otherwise, things are looking up, so enjoy this week's show.

Vandy Wrap; South Carolina Preview

The crew celebrates Halloween with a discussion of the hard-fought 31-28 victory over Vanderbilt.  We look ahead to the top 10 matchup this weekend in Fayetteville with South Carolina, and the titanic Alabama-LSU #1 vs. #2 matchup going head to head on your broadcast schedule with the Hogs game.  Johnny rants about the missed calls in the USC-Stanford game, and the picks contest loves the status quo.  JimmyG has a female fan, according to the mailbag?

Razorpod Picks - Week 12

As another college football season begins to wind down, the intensity of the picks contest explodes. Patrick Williams' perfect 6-0 week vaulted him into second place just a single game behind Johnny Fayetteville. Tom Logan is only two games back, while yours truly languishes at .500. Thank you, Miss Felicity Jones, for being a friendly face to even those who are in last place. Picks:

PW (37-29): Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Iowa, Miami, Arkansas, Duke
JF (38-28): Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, North Carolina State
TL (36-30): Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Iowa, Miami, Arkansas, California
JG (33-33): Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio State, Miami, Arkansas, Oregon State

Cocktail Party

Who doesn't love a cocktail party? Certainly, Adele Silver does. She'll be on hand (well, maybe not, but there's a chance) along with 100,000 drunken louts from Florida and Georgia for this weekend's Cocktail-Not-A-Cocktail Party in Jacksonville, FL.

The most anticipated game in the rivalry's storied history is two days away. The Razorpod Crew provided its take on the game, and our intrepid reporter, Tom Logan, will be on the scene.

Florida will try to exact revenge for the the "Gator Stomp" that the Georgia players performed in last year's game. The Gators offense is finally showing its full potential after two impressive outings against LSU and Kentucky, and the Gator D has enough up front to cause problems for a banged up Georgia O-Line and Matthew Stafford. Tim Tebow is beginning to get his name back in the Heisman conversation, and a big day against UGA might put him at the top of the list depending on what happens in Lubbock on Saturday night.

However, Georgia is playing its best football of the season. The Dawgs could pull this out if Knowshon Moreno goes over 100 yards, and the defense forces Tebow into a couple of rare turnovers. Georgia's injuries were a big factor in their sluggish start, but it appears they have gotten past that with new players stepping into their roles quite nicely.

This game will be an intense one with the refs likely to call some personal fouls early to try and keep control of the game and emotions in check. Florida appears to be the more stable of the two teams, and that will be the difference in a thrilling game. Florida 38 Georgia 31.

Who doesn't love a Cocktail Party? Oh, sorry, Smokey.

90210

What does 90210 have to do with college football? Well, nothing really. However, the original series got me thru many fall weeks waiting for college football Saturday, and hopefully, the new 90210 will fulfill that same mid-week gap. The two hour pilot for "90210" aired on Tuesday night garnering the CW's highest ever rating among the 18-49 age group. Dixon, Annie, Naomi, Ethan, Erin, Navid, and Adrianna are a fine cast with way more diversity than the original. However, true "Beverly Hills, 90210" fans will always prefer the iconic grouping of Brandon, Dylan, Brenda, Kelly, Steve, Donna, Andrea, and David. It's too bad the Mr. Walsh isn't around to manage some of the kids' trust funds, but at least Nat is still running The Peach Pit.

Back from the original show are Kelly and Brenda, but apparently, Donna, David, Brandon, Andrea, and Dylan are too busy looking for their youth in suburban shopping malls to get back in front of the camera for the new "90210". As for Steve Sanders, I think I8A4RE says it all. Steve probably should've kept the $10,000 he "anonymously donated" to the Alvarado School to insure his high school graduation - that money would come in real handy right about now.

Anyway, the updated "90210" comes with updated music (sorry, no Color Me Badd on this soundtrack), hip clothes, and the latest high tech gadgets the kids are using. It'll be an entertaining update on life in everyone's favorite teen drama zip code, but it cannot touch the original for high comedy, low fashion, and over-the-top drama. So let's just "squash" the comparisons and enjoy the ride.
