Auburn Wrap

The Razorbacks had a great 38-14 victory over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, and 3 of the Razorpodders were there to witness it.  The crew discusses the win, and looks at the rest of the schedule for some rank speculation about the rest of the season's games.  Johnny F. opens a commanding lead in the picks contest, and yours truly brings up the rear.  Bye week coming up, but next week is HDN time, so we will have a preview show.  Enjoy the show, and enjoy the big win over Auburn.

A&M Wrap; Auburn Preview

Arkansas had a stirring second-half comeback to win the 3rd Southwest Classic against Texas A&M on Saturday.  Tyler Wilson had a school-record 515 yards passing, most of which went to co-SEC Offensive Player of the Week Jarious Wright.  The Hogs looked awful defensively, and committed far too many penalties, but took advantage of cautious Aggie play-calling down the stretch.

Next up is the defending national champion Auburn Tigers, with Arkansas products Kiehl Frazier, Michael Dyer, and Gus Mal-a-zahn coming to Fayetteville.  This game is a crucial one for the Hogs' SEC hopes, and a victory this weekend could really boost the team to a nice stretch run.  The crew spends way too much time in this week's show gloating over the A&M win, and fretting a bit about Auburn.  Picks contest remains pretty static, although JimmyG really came back to earth after last week's showing.

Season 8 Is Underway

Despite the 100 degree temperatures, fall is just around the corner. With it comes Season 8 of Razorpod. Yes, the crew is back for one last shot at glory (or competency, anyway). We get into midseason form right away with a long discussion of the Knile Davis injury and how it changes the prospects for this season. The crew remains bullish on the Hogs, and shows some remarkable unanimity on the projected record: 9-3's all around, with Patrick lodging an 8-4 record because of the Houston Dale special we all know is coming. We run down the rest of the SEC West, and delve into Texas A&M's flirtation with the SEC. We never lost the opportunity for some good old Texas-bashing as well. Johnny has a rant, even though the season hasn't kicked off yet.

Razorbacks Beat the Tigers in WMS; Sugar Bowl Next???

The Razorbacks beat the LSU Tigers in a great game Saturday in Historic War Memorial Stadium.  In this week's show, the crew discusses the LSU game and the Hogs bowl prospects.  Also up for discussion is the Cam Newton situation and other issues.  Johnny Fayetteville has pretty much put the picks contest away; and Tom Logan needs another drink.  Razorbacks are likely in the Sugar or Capital One Bowls!

UTEP Gets Buried; Hawgs vs. Dogs Next

After a lively 1st Quarter, the Razorbacks took care of Mike Price's UTEP Miners on Senior Day in Fayetteville.  Unfortunately, the Razorpod crew was not so smooth in the show this week, and Skype really let us down.  Much like Houston Nutt, we're throwing everyone under the bus this week-Skype, Comcast, the Internet and its tubes in general just didn't execute very well.  So we have a short show this week-you get the UTEP wrap and the Miss. State discussion, but no picks or rants.  The picks are up on the blog, and we will have supersized rants saved up for LSU week.

Hogs Beat The Cocks'; Mike Price's Florabama Express is Next

The Razorbacks come off a convincing 41-20 victory over South Carolina in Columbia last week, in a game in which they finally put together the mythical "all three phases of the game" that Johnny Fayetteville has been asking them to do all year.  In this week's show, we discuss the win; talk about the key plays, and finally scratch our heads at a Razorback actually making a field goal over 50 yards.  Patrick Williams is officially insane in the picks; everyone else is holding serve.

A YUUUGE Georgia Win; Alabama's Comin' to Town and the Intangibles May Just be Leaning Our Way

Greg Childs' 40 yard touchdown leads the Hogs past Georgia last week in a stirring win for the Razorbacks on the road.  In this week's show, Johnny Fayetteville's audio is finally fixed; Tom Logan is back in studio, and Jimmy G is solid as usual.  Patrick Williams threatens to "go nil" on sleeper picks, which may actually happen this year.  The rants section is alive and well if you can make it all the way to the end of the podcast.  Oh, and by the way, #1 Alabama comes to town on Saturday for a YUUUUGE matchup.  The crew channels Bob Davie all week on Razorpod.

In other words, LSU Vet School's Workers' Comp Premiums Skyrocket.

This story is about LSU working with Mike the Tiger on loading into his enclosure for games this season. Apparently, Mike is not as cooperative these days as he was in 2009.

In other news, Tusk III is apparently thrilled to be at the game...

Know your SEC Trophy Games. Say wha????
Ok, last night on Razorpod we were clowning about having a trophy for the Miss. State-Arkansas game. Johnny Fayetteville suggested the "Hefty Sack of Claw Hammers." Good start, but we want some listener input as well. Send your thoughts to razorpod@sbcglobal.net.

Hot on the heels of last night's show, we ran across this interesting tidbit
on the internets. Seems like the student governments at Ole Miss and LSU have decided to call their matchup "The Magnolia Bowl" this year and into the future.

As we all know, you can't have a trophy game without the trophy. Behold the Magnolia Blossom:

This trophy was actually approved by Ole Miss and LSU administrations

Here's the question that should be on everyone's mind. This game is ALREADY A HUGE RIVALRY. Why do you need a trophy??? One that started in 2008? At least The Golden Boot was started because Arkansas was new to the SEC and wanted to create a rivalry.
